Since our inception, our purpose has been to support, educate, and inspire individuals and businesses of all kinds to make the switch to reusable and sustainable alternatives in order to reduce the devastating effects that plastic pollution is having on our planet. We do this by  making beautiful bamboo products that supersedes the quality plastics have to offer.

While we strive to save the planet and make the world a better place for all, we also have an obligation to protect the Giant Pandas (considered as one of the most vulnerable animals in the wild).

Despite their exalted status and relative lack of natural predators, pandas are still at risk, all thanks to  severe threats from humans that have left just over 1,800 pandas in the wild.

At PandaShoots we believe that all humans should do everything we can to save the giant panda because we are the ones that have driven it to the edge of extinction. And because we can.

Giant pandas first became endangered in 1990 due to excessive poaching in the 80s and deforestation, depleting their bamboo food source. A fickle species, bamboo can grow extensively in mountainous or barren lands, but then dies in the winter. This forces giant pandas in those areas to relocate for their food. Farmland expansion causes fragmentation of panda habitats, secluding the species to those locations deprived of bamboo and other pandas.

The bamboo that is used to make our straws and other bamboo products is harvested from a region of China where Giant Pandas subsist on bamboo. Studies have proven that the more you cut bamboo the faster it grows. It is truly a “renewable” resource. Thus, buying and using PandaShoots straws and other bamboo products promotes the growth of bamboo, which in turn provides the Giant Panda, which is a vulnerable species, with an increased food source.
